Czech vs Canada West

I like trying new things. Even if it means I feel uncomfortable at first. Usually that discomfort just means I'm not used to it, although in the rare instance it can also mean I am somewhere I don't belong. It is important to understand the difference between those two feelings. Sometimes they can feel pretty similar, especially if I am having an off day.

When I was approached to play a song in between periods at one of the World Jr. A Hockey games, I jumped at the opportunity. I thought it would be a good way to introduce myself to a fan base that might not have had the opportunity to hear me before. If nothing else, performing on ice into two wireless mics would be a new experience. As I've said before, I like trying new things.

The sound patched into the house system which carries well to the crowd but not so well to the ice. So, I couldn't really hear myself at all except the occasional bits bouncing back to me. It was kind of neat though, just before the period ended you could see all the action on the ice right next to where we were waiting. I wore my jacket until moments before I went on the ice. The lovely Jennifer Hersey lent me mittens to keep my fingers warm until moments before I played.

It was pretty well organized. They had exactly 30 seconds to roll the carpet out, set up the mics and I had a strict 3 minute time frame. It was over in the blink of an eye. I hope that it added a little something to the fan experience. Live music isn't usually a part of hockey and I love to see new ideas passed around.
